The Member of Parliament for Southend West is demanding a clear plan for improvement and copy of the original contract between Southend City Council and Vecteo by the end of next month.
Anna is aiming to make Southend the City of Culture for 2029. City of Culture status gets awarded every four years, and the successful bidder hosts cultural festivities throughout a culture-led celebration for the year.
On Sunday 26th June, Anna Firth MP attended the Leigh Fire Station Open Day. The Leigh firefighters put on an excellent family day, with a variety of activities for people of all ages to get involved in.
On Sunday 26th June, Anna Firth MP went to support the Leigh Folk Festival in Leigh-on-Sea. There was a range of activities and events on offer at the festival, with fantastic music, food, dancing, stalls, poetry and of course the infamous Rossi ice-cream.
On the Saturday 25th June, Anna Firth MP attended the Armed Forces Day event in Southend. Anna was joined by the Mayor of Southend, Kevin Robinson, Rev Frank Smith and our incredible veterans of the British Legion.
On Friday 24th June, Anna Firth MP visited the team of divers at Old Leigh Port who are behind the efforts to bring the 1665 London shipwreck back to the surface. The shipwreck is situated on the seabed very close to the end of the Southend Pier.
On Monday 20th June, Anna Firth MP spoke in the House of Commons in a Home Office debate. Anna addressed the issue of knife crime and anti-social behaviour present in Southend, and what should be done to eradicate this.

On Friday, May 27th, Anna Firth, Member of Parliament for Southend West, went to the NatWest Contact Centre to attend a partnerships event between Leadership Through Sport and Business(LTSB) and NatWest which aims to provide employment opportunities to young people in Southend.
On Friday, May 27th, Anna Firth, Member of Parliament for Southend West, visited St Michael’s School in Leigh-on-Sea to present the school with their Platinum Jubilee Certificates, and to see the school’s celebrations ahead of the Jubilee weekend.
