On Friday 16th February at Leigh Sailing Club, I convened my fourth clean water and sewage summit.

My visit to Eastwood Academy in Southend coincided with the school's Cultural Day activities which was unexpected, but great fun. 

On Monday 12 Feb I made my quarterly visit to Southend Hospital to witness the progress on several different projects. You may remember that I was instrumental in securing £118m in capital funding for Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust, the majority of which is earmarked for Southend.

Today I called upon the Health Secretary to guarantee improved dental services in Southend West and Leigh, to ensure that everyone who needs an NHS dentist is able to get an appointment with one. 

Last week I joined the Jo Cox Foundation’s calls to tackle all forms of abuse and intimidation against elected representatives by backing the recommendations in the recently published Jo Cox Civility Commission report. 

Two years ago when I was elected to be the MP for Southend West, I paid tribute to Sir David Amess, who while holding his regular constituency surgery, was stabbed to death by an Islamist extremist.

I am absolutely delighted that my Pet Abduction Bill is the first Private Members Bill to go through committee in this Parliamentary session.

I am determined to ensure my Bill is the first Private Members Bill to become law this session.

On Wednesday 24th January 2024, I was delighted to be able to welcome two of my constituents to the Houses of Parliament. 

On the evening of Tuesday 23rd January 2024, I attended the launch of the Music Venue Trust’s report which calls for a fan-led review of grassroots music. It was great to touch base with one of my constituents, Sam Duckworth, who is also one of the Project Leads for the Music Venue Trust.

Today (Friday 19th January) Anna Firth MP’s Pet Abduction Bill passed its Second Reading in the House of Commons. This follows the First Reading which took place on 6th December 2023.
